Intuition is your inner knowing, your ability to sense what’s true for you before your mind fully understands it. Like animals use instincts to navigate the world, humans are born with intuitive skills – but many of us have gradually ignored or doubted them as we grow up.

Now is a perfect time to reconnect with your intuition, strengthen it, and use it to make clearer choices in your daily life.

Sometimes we forget how natural intuition really is.
It shows up quietly – the pause before saying yes, the ease in the right conversation, the sudden knowing that you’re meant to turn left instead of right.

As we grow up, this subtle way of sensing often gets buried under noise: rules, advice, expectations. But it never disappears.

When we begin to notice it again, life feels different. There’s a heart-felt rhythm. Decisions carry less struggle. There’s more space to be in the moment, and even challenges can feel meaningful – like part of a bigger dance we can’t quite name, but trust.

You don’t have to force it, or make it far-fetched. Just noticing how your body, breath, and surroundings respond is already a way back to listening.

Take this quiz to find out how intuitive you are

Score each statement:

  • 3 – Always
  • 2 – Sometimes
  • 1 – Occasionally
  • 0 – Never

1. When you visit a place, you can feel something in the air, (“friendly”, “pressured”, “joyful”, “challenging”, “confusing” etc) although you might not be able to put your finger on it straight away.

2. You notice subtle cues in your work or social that help you anticipate events or other people’s reactions – like sensing a shift in the room, or knowing how someone might respond before they speak.

3. You experience deja vu or sudden clarity about a situation.

4. You can distinguish between your own feelings and the emotional states of people around you.

5. You notice your body giving subtle signals about situations, people, or decisions.

6. You are able to sense when something is off or misaligned before it becomes obvious.

7. You feel confident trusting your gut, even if you don’t have all the information.

8. You have hunches that later prove useful in your choices or actions.

9. You notice recurring patterns, signals or symbols in your life that help you guide your next step.

10. You are aware of how external inputs (news, social media, people) affect your energy and decisions.

11. You can pause and reflect before reacting, noticing what your inner voice is saying.

12. You feel your intuition strengthens when you are relaxed, focused, or in nature.

13. You are able to differentiate between fear, overthinking, and your real intuitive signal.

14. You are happy to make small decisions based on intuition (e.g., what to eat, where to go, who to contact) and notice the outcome.

15. You can describe or recall patterns in your past experiences that helped you make better decisions. People even say that you have photographic memory.

16. You can sense the “right timing” to act or wait, without needing external approval.

17. When your body reacts (expansion, contraction, tension, relief), you are able to treat these signals as guidance or as valuable data for reflection before you act.

18. You have experienced moments of perfect timing – bumping into the right person or finding the right resource just when you needed it.

19. You can sense a deeper cause behind situations or even conflicts, beyond the obvious surface reason.

20. You can connect seemingly unrelated events and discover a hidden theme or synchronicity running through them.

Tips to strengthen your intuition:

:: Remind yourself that your intuition is a very natural way to reconnect with your own soul.

:: Set an alone time for yourself daily, tune-in to your inner-world. Explore, reflect, and listen for what arises – even if it is quiet or subtle. This is a great way to feed your heart and soul, which will help your intuition to become more noticeable over time.

:: Keep a journal about all events that relate to following your intuition. Note small hunches or feelings and what happens afterward. It’s not always easy to follow your inner-voice, but the written evidence can encourage you to trust it more.

:: Observe, don’t judge: Pay attention to subtle cues in people, nature, or situations without overanalysing.

intuition is important for living your life purpose

Tips to strengthen your relationship with your intuition:

:: Set aside personal reflection time. Tune into your thoughts, body sensations, and energy levels.

:: Find and join a like-minded group, witness and nurture each other’s progress.

:: Experiment with small decisions. Notice which choices feel aligned, and keep track of what happens – this builds your confidence.

:: If you have pets, deepen your connection by observing them quietly, trying to voice their energy, and even experimenting with silent communication (telepathy or sensing their needs before they act). You might be surprised by how much you can pick up.

:: Learn to discern the differences between intuition and emotions. When you notice a strong emotional wave, pause and ask which voice is speaking. This simple step helps you spot projections that might be disguising themselves as “gut feelings.”

:: Learn to distinguish intuition from mental chatter. Use meditation, mindfulness or grounding ritual to clear emotional clutter. This creates a receptive state where intuition can emerge even during times of stress.

Tips for making intuition work for you in more aspects of life:

:: Observe life patterns. Look for deeper signals in your life, work, or your environment. And let them inform your next steps.

:: Test and validate your hunches. The more you practice, the more insight you gain, and the more flexible and precise your intuitive responses become.

:: Aim to connect the dot, see how different patterns relate to one another and form a bigger picture.

:: Protect your energy. Create boundaries to avoid absorbing emotions, expectations, or problems that do not belong to you.

how to develop your intuition

Tips for taking it to the next level:

:: Integrate intuition into your work and decisions: Let it guide you in creativity, problem-solving, and leadership.

:: Map what already feels like home: trace the patterns, places, and moments that make you feel alive. Notice what they reveal.

:: Refine your intuitive style. Notice whether your signals come through body sensations, feelings, inner-knowing, mental nudges or energetic shift – and honour your unique way.

:: Maintain your practice. Journaling, reflection, and observing life keep your intuition reliable and flexible. The more you fine-tune, the more you’ll feel the moment when insight “clicks” into place.

:: Anchor intuition into your purpose: Notice where life feels aligned, joyful, and meaningful – this is where your intuition gets strongest!

:: Practise pattern recognition: Look for patterns beneath patterns – those deeper, recurring signals that reveal the “why” behind events, not just the “what.”

:: Deepen the relationship. Treat intuition not as a tool, but as a way of living – one that grows more trustworthy and magnetic with time.

Most importantly, intuition is not a rare gift for a chosen few – it’s a natural capacity that anyone can strengthen with practice.

  1. My son and I just took the Intuition Quiz – it was so helpful, and we really appreciated the tips and exercises you had in each scoring category. What a wonderful time for all of us to tune into our spiritual side – perhaps we incarnated in this lifetime so that we would be able to help others during this “pandemic” experience?

    1. I’m so glad that you and your son resonate and find it useful, and that you find meaning and purpose during this delicate time. Sending you good vibes!

  2. Hi, I took your quiz and only scored a 9,but that is ok because I known time has degraded my abilities do to turmoil, confusion and battling wills. I have always been strongh and I listen to my inner voice, but I seem to attract gifted people who I belive I can learn from…but at the end of the day the only thing they want to do is steal my streght to build up theirselfs. I have built a wall around me to protect myself, but I know that is not the correct anwser..although it will do until I find my anwser. I have no rest because I feel my inner calling which I wish to explore once again, but saddly I have family close to me blocking my time, movement and wishes to move forward. Do you have any ideas to help me navagate this negetivity pushing me back…thank you

    1. Hi, thanks for reaching out. I feel for you that you trusted people but only being taken advantage of. From what you described, looks like that your personhood (personal power) was compromised. Start with an intention of getting your personal power back – you train people how to treat you.

You can check out this article I’ve written, https://www.yourlifeexpression.com/say-no/ the examples I shared are for creative freelancers/entrepreneurs, but the same principles apple in life situations too. Sometimes it’s so hard for intuitive/empath/highly sensitive people to say NO, because the conflicts would be too much for your nerve system to handle. You might have been battling this for a very long time, it can be very challenging. I shared some tools in the second part of that article to help you hold your ground.

      Take care.

  3. I’m a 26 and just in last 6 months starting to relize it. I’m 41 . And sometimes am not sure if I want to learn how or make it stronger is this normal?

    1. Hi Stephanie, the beauty of having intuition is that you get to decide what’s right or normal for YOU? Have you joined my newsletter community? As I have a mini-series talking about your concerns.

  4. Thank you Yiye, I have known I was gifted since I was 5 years oldand for some reason you have been brought into my life I look forward to working with you and understanding more about myself.

    1. Hi Sha’ron – it’s wonderful to connect with you! This is a journey to become intimate with your Spirit – sending you my best wishes 🙂

  5. Hi Yiye,
I’ve enjoyed this and intuition is part of me. Thank you for that i saw this as a reminder.
