Our body accompanies us all the time, during day and night, through highs and lows. Yet we often take it for granted. There are many things that you may or may not know about your sacred body.
Do you know:
1. Your heart is the first organ formed in your body.
2. Your brain can be trained to improve memory.
3. Your body can generate 50+ billions of new cells every day.
4. Mental illness is more common than we think, across all age groups. And seasonal disorders might be genetic. But they are all treatable.
5. Walking half an hour each day, seven days a week, can boost your mood and reduce anxiety.
6. Your Body position matters. For example, how you sit can make or break your day. Research has shown that sitting and looking downward is likely to trigger negative memories, however sitting upright and looking upward makes you more likely to remember peaceful and empowering memories. Check your posture now 🙂
7. Memories are deeply woven into our senses, both consciously and unconsciously. A scent can easily bring you down the memory lane.
8. In addition to sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing, we have other senses. A LOT actually. For example, humans also have
:: “thermoception” – sense of temperature in the body and the environment.
:: “temporal perception” – sense of time
:: “proprioception” – sense of space
:: “nociception” – sense of pain
:: “equilibrioception” – sense of balance
And potentially more down to our individuality.
9. Blushing is caused by an adrenaline rush. Motion sickness is caused by the shifting of your internal organs.
10. The good hair and bad hair days are literal. Your hair follows your sleeping patterns. Research reveals that our hair follicles contain RNA from “clock genes” which sets our sleeping habits. If you get up late or go to bed early, your hair knows and will show it.
Last, but not the least, your body is highly individual to you. There are countless things that you body loves to do/can do, or be affected by, but you might not even know yet. This is for you to rediscover. Love your body. Honour your body. Respect your body. Thank your body for being here and working hard for you.
