When Doubt Meets Intuition

Doubt itself is not inherently bad – critical thinking is healthy, reality check can save us from trouble. But when the self-sabotaging, stubborn patterns become too loud, they cloud our ability to see our true potential.

More often than not, we need to get out of our own way in order to reveal our path.

Like many creatives, my work began with a vision.
And like many creatives, I had doubt.

When I started offering intuitive guidance, most of my friends told me “don’t be silly, no one would ever value intuition“. Even someone who had spent several years in this field warned me, “it’s difficult to find ideal clients, and people will just think that you are too woo-woo.”

Back then intuition was a strange topic and I didn’t blame my friends for trying to look out for me.

But hearing those comments again and again planted a loop of disbelief in my mind.

So much so that when potential clients reached out, my first impulse was to talk them out of working with me.

Still, my heart kept calling – quietly, persistently.
Too many people never feel genuinely seen.
It felt deeply meaningful to create a space where they could reconnect with this ancient, wise, delicate, and beautiful part within themselves – to rediscover their overlooked soul gifts.

To encourage myself, I wrote this mantra on a post-it-note and kept it in my pocket.

“I offer my heart’s calling as a gift of love to the world. In its unfolding, I bring clarity where I go. I am supported, at each step.”

I wasn’t sure how it could help me, or if it could help me at all.

I still remember when facing resistance.

That was an afternoon in Summer 2012. I took 4 laps of walking meditation in my local park, anxiety was still present – 10 minutes later I would log onto Skype and talk to my first-ever paying client.

After helping many pro-bono clients, I was thrilled to finally have a someone who valued my work enough to pay.

My vision was not as unrealistic as people had thought”.

Yet the nerves and worries outweighed everything else.
All the discouraging voices I’d heard were looping in my head.
Because I was surrounded by disbelief for so long, when something positive finally happened, I wasn’t sure if I could trust it.

As I walked, it felt as though my left and right steps were alternately whispering:
“People won’t be receptive.”
“This won’t work.”

My inner saboteur was looking for excuses to delay the session. (Thankfully unsuccessfully.)

My client turned out to be wonderful – creative, kind, and deeply conscious of how human behaviour affects Earth. Her energy was so luminous that I could sense her even before our session. The preparation was easy!

She respected my work, paid on time, and made the whole process flow with ease.
There was no real reason to postpone – only fear.

I took out my mantra and read it out loud, straight from the heart, reminding myself:
My client doesn’t deserve my fears. She deserves my love and support.

The session went beautifully. We had a wonderful connection, and two weeks later, she wrote me a heartfelt thank-you letter. More importantly, the session truly helped her.

People from all walks of life are curious about it, eager to understand and use their intuition to improve their lives.

The ripple has extended far beyond the personal development space.

On 2009 The Apprentice, when candidate Lorraine Tighe said intuition was one of her qualities, she got laughed at by Sir Alan Sugar and his team.

A few years later on the same show, when a candidate ignored his gut instinct and caused his team to lose, Alan Sugar and Karren Brady said:
“You went against your gut instinct – that was a big mistake.”

The world is changing.
What was once dismissed is now recognised as wisdom.

Maybe your vision is simply a little ahead of its time – and that’s why it feels lonely or unsupported right now.
That’s when you need to support yourself the most.

Maybe you doubt your vision’s financial viability – if so, let patience and diligence carry you through.

Or maybe you already love what you do, but the next chapter feels terrifying.

Even when something is aligned, new territory can still feel uncertain.

When that happens, try this mantra again.
Say it out loud, or in silence.
Let its intention and vibration awaken something true in your heart, and guide you toward your next step.

Our grace and power reside in the heart.
And if your heart is calling you to bring more peace, beauty, and soulful joy to the world – give that calling a chance to grow.

If this message speaks to you, your intuition is already guiding you. Embrace your inner wisdom.

In the Intuition Course, we explore how to recognise this inner guidance – the deep knowing that helps you walk through uncertainty with peace and trust.
Your path doesn’t unfold by force, but by listening.
