An Open & Clear Heart Meditation

WHISPHERS FROM YOUR OWN HEART

Your heart holds your mystical, transformative power.

Sometimes, when we are quiet and clear, we feel our heartbeats, and from which we hear our heart’s whispers.

“Hello, my name is heart.
The first organ to form inside you.
I have the direct connection with Source energy, the heavenly mandate enters through me.
I am an empty vessel.
Joy is the child of this emptiness.

My peak season is Summer.
I am the imperial fire 🔥.
When I am well, I am open and generous.
When I am balanced, I’m not seduced or troubled by excess.

I thrive on simplicity.
I respond well to insights, laughter, unconditional love and kindred spirits.
I accomplish through non-doing.
I reside in my inner-peace and send out divine love to the world.”

With an open, steady and clear heart, we are mostly content and safe. We all know how it feels to arrive in our own heart, yet at times we cannot help but feel lost or confused in the velocity of everything.

We often find ourselves being caught in the dusty net, it’s harder to be liberated than we’d like.

For our heart to remain as a constantly welcoming and enticing home for our divine spirit to shine, it needs our right kind of attention (the opposite of addiction, numbness or overly sarcasm), but too often, we neglect it or fear to tend to our heart.

Without of a clear and steady heart, the outer world becomes too much for our physical, mental and emotional bodies to take.

A heart meditation is one of the most direct ways to help our heart to restore its original and pure state, it allows us to return to our natural state of peace with relative ease, despite the stress and pressure we face.

Today I want to share this meditation with you, which can give us an anchor and agency to cultivate our open, steady and clear heart.

ENTERING THE ENERGY OF YOUR HEART: HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE MEDITATION

To prepare for this meditation, here are a few suggestions, pick and choose whichever resonate(s) with you:

  • light a rose scented candle, in a red bowl or glass if possible
  • read a few lines of a timeless poem which speaks to your heart
  • spend a couple of minutes hanging out with flowers in nature
  • simply brew and sip some black, green or hibiscus tea

Any of the above would be very helpful to tune in to the true frequency of our heart.

MEDITATION: CULTIVATE YOUR CLEAR & OPEN HEART

As you are gradually unplugging from any worldly entanglements, explore your heart field, the life-giving energy centre.

The energy in your heart field, by nature, is vast and spacious. However, often it can be shrunk, burdened, wobbled, clouded, or polluted by attack, doubt, shame, guilt, or self-judgement.

The past year hasn’t been easy on many, you are included too. So use this time and space to give yourself more compassion, witness and understanding.

Take a few moments and see if you can forgive yourself, for over reacting, lashing out, making “silly” mistakes, or anything that you feel better to release.

See if you can let go of shame of whether you are being too much or not enough.

Soften your body and use the rhythm in your breaths to ground yourself.

Inhale, Exhale

Inhale, Exhale

Notice the beginning of your inhale and the ending of your exhale.
Pay attention to how your inhales and exhales meet, and feel how naturally one continues and complements the other.

Your heart meridians emerge from your heart, to your armpits, through the inner side of your arms, enter your palms and reach all the way to the tips of your little fingers.

Notice your finger tips and the spaces between them.
Notice the edges of your skin where your body meets the surrounding.
Notice the centre of your chest and the space behind it.

Your heart, when unburdened and well, is like a reflecting pool, calm and still, illuminating truth, wisdom and intrinsic order of the cosmos.

However, nowadays, our heart is bearing assaults and burdens, triggered and challenged, collectively and individually, on a daily basis. We often find ourselves in pain, and are feeling each other’s pain.

This is a time to put your sensitivity and receptivity to a greater use.

You know that part of you, which over-analyses if you’ve done some detail right or wrong, or if you have said the right or wrong things? This or that? Yes or No? Worries or regrets?

Let all the agony and pressure go.

Instead, in this moment, use your sensitivity as a great strength and gift in cleansing your heart, simply be of full service for your own heart to return to its simple, original and steady state.

If you wish, reach out to those uncomfortable corners in your heart.

Gently blow away any debris and scrap, go to the spots that feel numb, give them some air, let them breathe and release, heal and transform.

If you are not sure, let the tiny, brief, tingling nudge take the lead.

Stitch the broken parts in you.

Piece back the shattered.

Expand the constricted.

Feed the starved.

Loosen up the knotted.

Soothe the over-stimulated.

Say hi to the neglected.

And hug the parts in you that feel ashamed.

Know that when uncomfortable emotions temporarily take residence as rough edges and corners in your heart field, you don’t need to run away from them. They are just different faces of introspection, awareness and insights.

The problem is not the feeling itself, but the act of suppression or denial. Too often we are fixated in ways in which we should or shouldn’t feel, or what we are or aren’t allowed, we forget that feelings are just…feelings.

Storms will pass – they are not who you are. And above each storm, there is a much bigger and brighter sky.

It is OK, if at this moment you feel weighed down, shattered, blocked, or a little relentless; it is OK, if at this moment you feel stuck, disinterested, misunderstood, disappointed, or tiresome, for none of those emotions are permanent.

Lean in to the place in you that feels pure and true, let the love and tranquillity melt everything and anything that feels tiring, agitating or exhausting.

Each time we meet a feeling, familiar or unfamiliar, which we’ve tried hard to avoid, there is an initial resistance, discomfort or even messiness.

But as we watch the emotion being seen, felt, validated and released, this process automatically invites spaciousness and illumination of our light right back inside our being. A big relief for our body, our nerves, and our busy mind.

As you breathe into your clarity and openness, know that this is not “a waste of time”, or “low value activity”, or “lazing around”, but a helpful, or even instrumental way to strengthen your intuition and build rapport with yourself. It is only with more self-awareness, we project less and less to to this already overbearing and hurting planet.

Maybe you are in a time and place which you are called to hold space for others, or maybe you are not. Wherever you are, it is valid. And no matter where you are, a clear and open heart is a gift you can give to yourself.

In the past couple of years, the sweat, the heartache, the unsettled tummy, the frozen hip, the shaking bones, the fatigue and fragility,…it all has become way too familiar, and with the recent extreme weather in many parts of the world, many of us struggle to be grounded and steady.

Yet, please know that this meditative place is somewhere you can always return to. And whatever practices strengthen your heart, keep doing them. They are the air and food for your compassion and sovereignty.

As we are finding our way, remember that you have a clear and steady heart, and we recognise the heart in one another. Healing begins here.

“May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love and courage around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.”
