Healing Message From The Winter Solstice

Dear reader friend,

I hope that no matter where you are, your and family are well.

In the past years, many of us have been trying our best to be adaptable, to be responsible citizens rather than burdens, we seek ways to contribute, we show up for our community and loved ones. Still, there are many things beyond our control. For example, the recent news can leave us feeling deflated.

However, despite the curve balls and hardships, life is generous by her nature. This is a lesson which the Plant Realm is trying to show us and entice us to truly see.

Here are some whispers I got from the Plant Kingdom – maybe you have heard your own. (Even in the most lonely days, we don’t have to suffer from the loneliness that our mind makes us feel. Get to know the Plant Kingdom, we will start seeing friends, allies and even family everywhere we go.)

Today, in the northern hemisphere, the Winter Solstice is gifting us these qualities at their finest: stillness within chaos, inner-knowing and wisdom, potential and willpower, trust and understanding…..manifested by the Water Element in us.

The Winter Solstice is like an inception of a cycle. As we emerge from the dark, the Water Element in us asserts the very essence of who we are, gathering strength and resilience, pauses and reflects before forging ahead for the new cycle.

Human journey can be tough. Bob Dylan sings, “How many roads must a man walk down before you call him a man?”

How many tests do we need to pass and how many leaps of faith we must take, in order to let go of facades and illuminate our truth? On the wandering path, it is the Water Element in us that gives us a place of reassurance and depth, even during the mist.

For our reader friends who are in a difficult situation, whether it is due to personal reasons or the wider circumstances, it can feel like a dark and endless winter.

Nevertheless, each season has its inherent medicine. The Earth Goddess in winter calls us to go inward and downward, nourish ourselves with warm food and broth, restorative Yoga, gentle and rhythmic walks, meditative chanting and prayers.

Many of us have suffered from vicarious trauma and/or burnout this year, knowingly and unknowing. (You can read some signs and how to prevent or heal from it in the above article).

You might feel disoriented and struggle to understand the roots of the pain. And due to the “shell shock” and the shattering of your value system, it can also feel like going through a dark night of the soul. Especially if you have your own history of trauma, a lot can be triggered in a year like this.

Trials can make us tremble, and trouble can leave us bewildered. Even so, in the darkest of the dark, think back to the Winter Solstice and do what has been done for thousands of years: emotionally unite with your soul family, nourish yourself and each other, and contemplate on the truth of seasons.

Each dark day is followed by light. Winter is a phase. And in this phase, divine is still present.

Much love,
