When we went to Iceland about 10 years ago, I didn’t expect it to be so healing that I started writing again after a decade long writer block.
Writing had always been one of the very few outlets for me during the stressful adolescence. But since I moved to the UK, intimidated by this new language, I let writing slip away from me.
Until that weekend watching Gullfoss Waterfall going wild – it was like turning a tap back on, something in me was reawakened and encouraged. I realised that there are stories in my veins which want to be told and shared. Maybe I don’t need to be silent all the time. And maybe, maybe I could try to write in English, just see where it takes me.
Initially, it was just putting down some random thoughts in the notebook, stealing time here and there even during the insane corporate hours. A few weeks later, whenever a friend needed me, I’d record some intuitive insights I got for them as love letters.
Then several months later, I started this website.
I forgot about the fact that English is not my first language. I ignored that I was such a technophobe. I turned unsolicited and nonconstructive criticism into fuel to learn more and do better. A process of seeking joy within. Writing has helped me yield a body of work, and I’ve got the Icelandic Water to thank.
After being homebound for almost a year, the nostalgia with Nature provides me comfort as well as inspiration. Our memories can be precious. The beauty and wonder Nature gifted us always stays in our heart.
The Water Element out there in Nature mirrors our essence inside – who we are at the core – stripping out any social hats we are wearing.
Water gives and sustains life. Even in the midst of everything, Water whispers to us:
Join me for a Water Therapy. Water is humble – May Water Spirit lift your Soul. May Water Element calm you, cleanse you and regenerate you.
Want to extend your Water Therapy to a whole day/weekend and rejuvenate your Soul even more?
Here are a few suggestions for times throughout a day. See if you want to try some or all of them.
DETOX
Prepare yourself and drink 1-2 cups of warm water in the morning, before breakfast or taking any stimulants.
This helps your body to detox before the world wakes up. A calm body can support a calm mind.
RESILIENCE JOURNALLING
The Water Element in you creates your innate power and qualities such as resilience, which might be what you really need right now.
Journal some of your past experiences when you’ve overcome obstacles and how you’ve understood your resilience as a result.
Those precious past experiences are evidence that you are well equipped to get through challenges.
AFTERNOON PICK-ME-UP
Adrenaline is closely linked with the Water Element. Ensure that you are well-hydrated throughout the day. If you have an afternoon slump, take 5-10 minutes off, gently elevate your legs, which will nourish your adrenal glands, especially if you suffer from chronic stress.
WIND-DOWN BATH
Working from home can create difficulties in having a healthy boundary between work and relaxation. Have a wind-down bath in the evening.
Add Epsom salts and 4-5 drops of Lavender oil, which are wonderful for switching off the fight-or-flight mode, and switching back on the rest-and-digest mode.
MASSAGE
Follow this with a gentle massage. If you wish, add 2-3 drops of Juniper oil in your preferred base oil. Juniper oil can help you relieve any tension or mental exhaustion, it is also good for dispelling emotions such as insecurity, loneliness or toxic shame.
BEDTIME RENEWAL
Just because we are not doing much while sleeping, it doesn’t mean that our body gets nothing done. Plants soak up the Sun in the morning and grow the most at the night. Bedtime is also very important for us humans to restore vitality.
As you are ready for bed, thank your cells for working very hard for you. Let your subconscious mind know that you are ready to let go of any outworn patterns and ready to start something new.
